Study on transportation needs of area non-profits and their clients

Transportation in a rural community can be challenging, particularly to low-income populations who may not have access to reliable forms of transportation. As a result, many local non-profits are focusing much of their time and resources on how to get clients to and from their services.  Rockbridge Area Transportation System (RATS)’s mission is to provide “safe, reliable, and affordable transportation.” RATS is interested in exploring how they can better collaborate with area non-profits to provide transportation to their clients, allowing these agencies to free up their resources to fulfill their main missions.

Questions to consider: What is preventing agencies from collaborating on transportation? What are the unique transportation needs of each of these agencies? How could RATS better meet these needs? How are other communities collaborating on transportation?
