Habitat for Humanity would like to conduct a second round of analysis of the potential demand for its services in the Rockbridge area (Lexington, BV, and Rockbridge County). A first round analysis was conducted in 2005 through an Economics CBR project. Habitat would like to gather current data on housing conditions throughout the Rockbridge area. In particular, it would like to identify the number of households that are both eligible for becoming a partner family with Habitat for Humanity and willing to follow the guidelines necessary for acquiring a Habitat for Humanity home.
|Agency Name||Habitat for Humanity|
|Mission||Habitat for Humanity aims to build houses for those in need that are simple, decent, and affordable. The organization’s motto is “Building homes, building communities.” Habitat homes are sold to families at zero profit and financed with no-interest loans. Habitat families pay a small down payment, monthly mortgage payments, and “sweat equity,” or manual labor, in order to purchase their homes. Since its establishment in 1991, Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity has built twenty-three homes in Lexington, Glasgow, and Buena Vista, Virginia.|
The Rockbridge Habitat for Humanity would like to identify the number of households that may be eligible to partner with Habitat and that might also be willing to follow its homeowner guidelines.
