Digital Drawings and Technical Design: Planter Bench

Through this project, engineering students produced digital drawings and technical design of a planter bench, a furniture piece produced and sold by the Rockbridge Area Occupational Center (RAOC), which serves adults with intellectual, emotional, and physical disabilities.

Abstract

Engineering students in ENGN 178 produced digital drawings and a technical design of a planter bench.  This is one of the pieces of furniture that is produced and sold by the Rockbridge Area Occupational Center (RAOC), which serves adults with intellectual, emotional, and physical disabilities.

Agency Name Rockbridge Area Occupational Center (RAOC)
Mission RAOC is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian organization existing solely for the benefit of its employees. With financial support from industry, local, state, and federal governing bodies, and private funding, RAOC has provided center-based employment for people with physical, emotional, or intellectual disabilities for 40 years. There are presently 45 employees that work and receive training at the Center. Most were referred by the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services, the Rockbridge Area Community Services Board, or other social service agencies.
