Housing Needs of Local Immigrant Population

With the increase of the community’s immigrant population in recent years, many community partners are interested in learning about the needs of this community, as well as how they can best reach out to them. The local Habitat for Humanity is interested in learning more specifically about the housing needs of the immigrant community.

Project Details

Agency Name Habitat for Humanity
Mission Habitat for Humanity aims to build houses for those in need that are simple, decent, and affordable. The organization’s motto is “Building homes, building communities.” Habitat homes are sold to families at zero profit and financed with no-interest loans. Habitat families pay a small down payment, monthly mortgage payments, and “sweat equity,” or manual labor, in order to purchase their homes. Since its establishment in 1991, Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity has built twenty-three homes in Lexington, Glasgow, and Buena Vista, Virginia.
